Hedy Lamarr!

Hedy Lamarr was an American actress and inventor. She was born on November 9, 1914, and died on January 19 2000 She was behind the basis for Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth. She was born a single child to a banker and pianist. Her father first sparked her interest in technology, taking her on walks and explaining the workings of various machinery. She never received a formal education, but still retained a deep passion for inventing Later, after fleeing her husband she met Howard Hughes, who encouraged her to pursue inventing. In 1940 she met George Antheil who had a similar passion for inventing and progressing technology. She even made a pill which turned liquid into a Coca Cola like substance. They worked together to make a revolutionary communication system. By ‘hopping’ radio frequencies it would make the waves unable to intercepted and allowing torpedoes to reach its target faster. Her work was not recognized, and she didn’t even receive a penny work her patent. Later however, her work became the basis of Wi-Fi and GPS, earning her the title of the mother of Wi-Fi I think one of the most inspirational and interesting parts of her story is how she was able to have a successful acting career and even escape her bad Hollywood relationship to pursue her passion.
